"Cowboy Winter" Photo Workshop

$500.00

ALL INCLUSIVE!
You get there, we take care of the rest!

Join us in beautiful eastern Wyoming for an amazing six day workshop photographing working cowboys on a sprawling ranch in the heart of winter.  For this workshop, we will be on a working cattle ranch, photographing genuine folks who live the life, and are cowboy to the core. These are not professional models, just honest hard working cowboys and girls. In other words, this is as authentic as it gets, and we promise you will not see a rhinestone anywhere on this workshop.

We'll photograph a huge variety of action, scenery, and subjects, including cowboy portraits, riding, roping, running horses, close-ups of cowboy gear and tack, horse pushes, farrier work, and more.  Snow filled valleys and forest covered hills will provide the perfect winter setting for this workshop, topped off with snow-capped mountains as our backdrop.

Our hosts for this workshop are the New Haven Ranch, nestled on the edge of a canyon in the Bear Lodge Mountains of eastern Wyoming.  This unique ranch sprawls across deep canyons, rolling hills, and even has a real ghost town on location.  The ranch boosts a herd of over 30 horses in a variety of colors which will be featured in many of our photo sessions around the ranch.

Led by award winning professional photographers, this will be your best opportunity to photograph authentic working cowboys and cowgirls on a real ranch setting. And when we say “real” and “authentic”, just remember this is a working ranch, so you’ll have to watch where you step!

So go ahead pop that “Open Range” DVD in the player, start getting inspired, and make plans this winter to join us as we photograph the real west!

Day 1 – February 10th - For those flying into the area, arrive at Rapid City Regional Airport (RAP) by 3:00pm. We will provide transportation from RAP to the ranch where we will be staying throughout the workshop. We will have an evening get together at the lodge where everyone is staying to get acquainted, go over the itinerary, photo tips, etc., before we get started on Friday.

Day 2 - 5 - February11th - 14th - Photography sessions on the ranch! We start each day approximately 1-1.5 hours before sunrise, meeting for breakfast before we begin the day. We’ll photograph throughout each morning, with different sessions at locations all over the ranch each day. At midday we take a break for lunch and open discussion sessions. Then after lunch we head back out for more photography, concluding near sunset. After sunset we will return to the lodge house for dinner, downloads, and a different discussion theme or critique session each evening. These evening critique sessions are a great learning experience and a lot of fun!

Day 6 - February 15th - We will meet for an early breakfast and to discuss any photo topics you want, and then depart for Rapid City. Anyone traveling out of Rapid that day will be dropped off at the airport. Then board your plane and fly off into the sunset while Les and Jason wave from the parking lot…

Afterwards – Take another week off to sort and review the thousands of amazing cowboy photos you came home with. While you are busy downloading them, rent and watch the entire Lonesome Dove series, after all you’ll have plenty of time while you are downloading all your killer images. Convince your significant other to convert your home to a western décor, and plaster the walls with your images. Send us an email with your favorites. Tell all your friends about us. Sign up for another OPW workshop, because you had an incredible time and can’t wait to get out with us again to make more great images! :^)
